FLORAL FRIDAY - iris in bloom


This gorgeous orange Iris is one of three I bought at the Friends of Gardens Manitoba annual Mother's Day Sale last weekend and put into the south lasagna garden. 
This little fella is one of the first of 50 early blooming miniature Iris I planted in the fall and I am thrilled to see him, a harbinger of blooms to come.

    Your little iris is very pretty with that electric shade of blue. My Iris reticulate tend not to stay in the garden for long, fading away by the 2nd or 3rd year.

    Did you put the overwintered plants into your new front bed?

      Thanks for the reminder on the name of these Iris. Perhaps we are too cold for them to live long in zone 3?

      Watch for a new post about the rest of those plants. In a rush I tried to cram two subjects into one post and it just didn't work.
