Last year I planted about 500 blubs at my new home. I planted them relatively late since we did not even move in until October 15th.
A friend this winter advised that I might not see too many of them with such a late planting date. On the other hand we had a wonderfully insulating blanket of snow from Nov 11 to well past April 11.
In other words, it is anyone's guess.
Here is the very first bloom.
A Crocus with an Allium (well on its way) as backdrop.

Very lovely! I suspect that nice insulation of snow protected your bulbs nicely and you will have a nice show soon. 500 bulbs! Wow! Very interesting to realize that in some zones, it's still crocus time! I'm in zone 5b, and our crocuses finished two or three weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteMost of mine won't be in bloom until the weekend or later, they say we are about 3 weeks behind normal. Love your rock garden by the way!
DeleteVery pretty!

ReplyDeleteOh it was, it was. I hope this is just the start of an avalanche of spring blooms, but I will need to be patient still.
DeleteIt's so exciting at this time of year as the bulbs come up and there is something new in the garden everyday. It will look great when all of those bulbs bloom. We had an extra long winter, so the crocuses and other early bulbs are blooming here now, too.
ReplyDeleteI just saw your snow crocus in the lawn pics. A-mazing! I am thinking of trying out some next year, I don't mind my lawn a little longer than most others in any case I believe; glad to see yours look so great.
