DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS - daffodil move

When we first planed a bushel of large yellow Trumpet Daffodils in our second year of owning the cottage we made sure to put many in amongst the trees to take advantage of our expanded canvass before the leaves come out and close things in.

Most of the Trumpets are to the left of the stairs but of course I could not have anything too symmetrical, so I had to lob a clump over to  the right side.  It made sense when there were only Trumpets.

Last year I added fragrant, long lasting and multi-blooming Kedron Daffodils.

Call me crazy but the Trumpet ever so slightly detracts from the grouping of Kedron.  I love the Kedron so much I had planned to double or triple them for greater effect, but now that we will not be there during Spring it has dropped way down my priority list. I may have to find a spot for them in Winnipeg though...

There is no way those bulbs climbed over the stairs, it was clearly my planting decision and it called to me every time I walked past it. People new to the garden never would have know the history of how they got mixed together, and though I am not normally so rigid, I have moved them.

A small thing, but worth doing.

After all, the Devil is in the Details.

    1. There were quite a few places were rocks got in the way of planting bulbs but I'm confident I'll be able to find some more space around them when the time comes.
