MACRO MONDAY - moss

And to provide context, below is where this shot of moss was taken.

Interesting to see that chicken wire that was probably put in place to keep deer from eating this tree as a sapling many years ago is still in place and will shortly start growing into the tree.
If only I had had a pair of secateurs on me!

  1. Interesting moss macro. My quess is that the chicken wire is to protect the trunk from being used to rub the velvet off the deer antlers, they can practically girdle a tree! I use the same thing on mine.

  2. Oh my I think I would have to return with secateurs and free the poor tree.

    1. I would return too if it was not 3 hours including a boat ride from my home. I actually meant to bring my secateurs. I should never travel without them!

  4. I get that same urge to rescue trees from volcano mulching and support wires that have been left on too long. Nice macro of the moss. Now that's a bug's eye view!

    1. It looks quite warm and inviting from a bug's perspective I think.
