NATURE NOTES - ducks, duck, rabbitt

The ice on the river has given way to open waters, and those specs of ice you see floating down the middle are not ice at all but Mallard Ducks.  You will have to trust me since you cannot hear them quacking.

Canada Geese have been here for awhile, but these are the first ducks I have seen. Clearly we are making progress towards actual spring weather.
It is hard to make out but look closely and you will see a small bunny rabbit having a rest under our front bench.  Compare that pic to this pic form an earlier post and you will see clear proof that the snow is slowly, slowly receding.

  1. Winter just won't give it up this year. We had snow flurries this morning in Indiana.

It took a few seconds, but I did find the bunny! They are such pesky little characters in a garden, but I love them anyway.

    1. Well we are expecting some 68 degree weather this weekend, I hope you get some soon too. I have heard rabbits are pesky so I am trying to buy things "they won't like" and at the same time I asume that really means "they like less".

  2. Winter has been relentless on your area this year. Hopefully you don't skip Spring and go straight into Summer.

    1. Don't worry we won't be able to skip past all of the daffodils and crocus I planted in the fall.

  4. Love the shot of the bench and the lovely sunbeam shining down. I had to really look for the bunny... but finally, there he was. Spring coming very slow to your area it seems
