You are right a gardener certainly needs patience. Sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't, LOL.
Both gardens look great, the second year has a fuller look but with a lot more yellow, I can see why you want to add more red for balance.
Next year I will place a similar blog post and hopefully there will be less brash yellow and more warm reds and burnt oranges!
